If you look closely at the picnic tables near the east entrance, you'll see more than just bright colors.

Camila Wong, the artist commissioned to bring life to the park's seating, spent three weeks hand-painting these functional canvases.

"I wanted the patterns to mimic the movement of the ferry wake," Camila explains. "The rust and sage tones are a nod to the industrial past of the Bayfront meeting the new green spaces we're building now."

The mural "THE LAKE THE LIFE" has quickly become the park's most photographed spot. It's not just a backdrop; it's a statement about the temporary nature of this space.

"Like the park, these tables are here for a season. They are meant to be used, to have coffee spilled on them, to be lived on."

Field Notes

The lake air does something to the colors down here. Everything looks a bit more saturated when the humidity hits.
