The Great Pickleball Heat Wave

It was a scorcher this weekend at 50 Queens Quay East. With the sun reflecting off the lake and the blue courts absorbing every degree, the thermal profile of a 2-on-2 match was... intense.
But that didn't stop the regulars.
"The breeze off the water is the secret weapon," says Marcus, who has been at the courts every Saturday since the park opened. "If you're on the north court, you get that tunnel effect between the condos. It's at least three degrees cooler."
We saw over 40 players rotate through the two public courts between 10 AM and 2 PM. The hydration station was the MVP of the day.
Pro tip for the summer: If both courts are full, the woodchip area under the meadow mounds offers the best shade while you're on the paddle-wait list.
Field Notes
The lake air does something to the colors down here. Everything looks a bit more saturated when the humidity hits.
